Reports & Papers

This report report was published by IEA Bioenergy Task 42 (Biorefineries in Circular Economy) in collaboration with the LignoCOST project. It highlights various aspects related to the use of lignin as feedstock for the production of many aromatic chemical compounds and building blocks. Despite the huge availability of technical lignins typically from the pulp and paper industry and the great potential for biobased materials, the complex structure of lignin represents one of the main obstacle to its full exploitation.
